RobArch 2018 – Propozycje Warsztatów – Deadline

For all you who likes to take apart in the most robotic event for designers as tutors we can recommend RobArch 2018 which take place at ETH in Zurich next year.  If you have any experience with these workshops as a participant or tutor in previous years, share your opinion with us!!!

CALL for WORKSHOPS

ROB|ARCH 2018 now welcomes proposals for workshops. Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit proposals for two-day OR three-day workshops, which will be held September 10th – 12th, 2018 at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. Workshop proposals with strong cross-disciplinary trajectories that actively integrate experts from multiple fields are highly encouraged.Deadline for submissions is September 8th, 2017. Visit ROB|ARCH 2018 website for more information and submission guidelines. 

ABOUT ROB|ARCH

The ROB|ARCH 2018 conference and workshops will take place at ETH Zurich and are proudly hosted by the National Centre of Competence in Research (NCCR) Digital Fabrication, a cross-disciplinary research network leading the development and integration of digital technologies within the field of architecture. Against this background the conference will provide an ideal setting for a series of interdisciplinary workshops pushing the boundaries of the state-of-the-art in robotic fabrication. The ROB|ARCH workshops will allow for hands-on experience with the most current robotic technologies, offer a unique platform for dissemination of new knowledge, and provide an opportunity for researchers, practitioners and industry leaders to share and exchange expertise, explore methods, compare techniques and create new connections.

Modular Light Cloud – workshops at ASK Summer School in Warsaw

SUMMER IS HERE – TIME FOR NEW WORKSHOPS !
ASK Summer School is an initiative to gather students, architects and artists for a two-week
learning-working session. During the workshop we will be facing the aspect of modularity in
architectural design using the most contemporary design tools. The module we will be working
with is LED tube light. The goal is to use the tube light both as a structural and responsive
element to create a working structure.

PARTICIPANTS
Everybody who wants to learn about new tools in design process or enhance their knowledge
and apply it in real project. The program is mainly aimed at students of Architecture, Fine Art,
Design, etc., but everybody interested in architecture, parametric design, fabrication and
interactive installations is welcome. The number of participants is limited.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Knowledge of architectural or artistic installation design along with basic knowledge of any 3d
modeling software is required.

KNOWLEDGE GAINED
Every participant will be introduced to parametric design tools, fabrication technology and
open-source electronics prototyping. The software covered (in different levels) is: McNeel’s
Rhinoceros 3d, Grasshopper 3d and Arduino.

CERTIFICATION
Participants will receive an official certificate for successful completion of the workshop
acknowledging the software use and digital fabrication experience.

ORGANIZATION
ASK (Architecture for Society of Knowledge) is a master program organized by the Architecture
and Urbanism department at Warsaw University of Technology. It’s dedicated to those who wish
to extend their practical understanding of contemporary architecture and urban planning. The
program addresses digital media in design, prototyping with computer controlled machines,
distributed design collaboration, and agendas for sustainable, intelligent building.

Parametrycznie zaprojektowana ściana z papieru – warsztaty z Grasshoppera w Irkucku

Labdigifab Research Group from Faculty of Architecture of Technical University of Wroclaw, organized very interesting set of workshops in Irkutsk, Russia. It mainly utilized Grasshopper, and parametric logics to generate paper sculpture. As a result – complex geometry backlit wall was produced, which is very nicely shown on video below :
